A
Savonnerie design is similar to that of an Aubusson design
with one major exception, Texture. Each Savonnerie is hand
knotted using 100 % wool, then cut creating a thick cut pile.
These carpets have many shades of colors to enhance the depth
of the design. This depth along with the plush 1/2 inch cut
pile is a rich compliment to any English or American colonial
style furniture. Because of the luxurious finish and opulence
associated with these rugs, they were originally woven specifically
for palaces owned by kings and queens.
Savonnerie pieces are available in a variety of sizes and
patterns, and make a fine compliment to any Aubusson carpet.
Because these rugs are plush and durable we recommend using
them for dining room and other high traffic areas.
